Joanna Burns elected to the Council of the Law Society of Northern Ireland

We’re delighted to announce that Joanna Burns, Family Lawyer and Solicitor Advocate in our Belfast office, has been elected to serve as a Council Member for the Law Society of Northern Ireland.

Joanna brings deep experience, compassion, and integrity to everything she does. In her campaign, Joanna pledged to:

Make the Law Society more transparent and accessible — helping members understand how decisions are made and how they can have their say.

Champion fair legal aid fees that reflect the complexity and cost of the work undertaken by solicitors.Encourage open conversations about technology and AI, using innovation to enhance access to justice while safeguarding human judgment.

Keep the profession moving forward while upholding our shared values of integrity, empathy, and service.

Joanna said she is “looking forward to the opportunity to bring that perspective to Council and help make our profession more connected, forward-thinking, and sustainable”.

Karen O’Leary, Senior Partner and Head of Family and Child Law at Caldwell & Robinson, said:

“We’re incredibly proud of Joanna, she is a thoughtful, committed lawyer who cares deeply about the profession and the people it serves. Joanna has a well-rounded understanding of the issues that matter most to solicitors and clients alike and will make a great addition to Council.”

Everyone at Caldwell & Robinson extends their warmest congratulations to Joanna on this well-deserved achievement.
